Investigations may reveal a leucocytosis, raised ESR, raised CRP, hypergammaglobulinaemia and a negative rheumatoid factor. Bowel studies - endoscopy, barium studies - should be undertaken.
The underlying bowel disease must be treated. NSAID's and physiotherapy may be used to manage the arthritis.
