Seborrhoeic keratosis has a number of common pathological features:

  • thickened epidermis - acanthosis:
    • proliferation of immature keratinocytes
    • predominant overgrowth between basal and keratinizing layers
  • dermal papillae elongated

There are a number of pathological features unique to certain types of seborrhoeic keratosis - see main menu.
