Tuberculum sellae meningiomas compress the optic chiasm and present with visual field defects, usually a bitemporal hemianopia.
They may be indistinguishable from a pituitary tumour except for the finding of hyperostosis of the tuberculum sellae - which is first seen on plain x-ray and then confirmed by angiography.
