Screening for colorectal cancer offers the potential to detect the disease at an early, potentially curable, stage.

There are five criteria for considering screening for colorectal cancer:

  • age > 40
  • family history of colorectal cancer
  • personal history of colorectal cancer
  • familial adenomatous polyposis coli
  • ulcerative colitis
