NSAIDS inhibit cyclo-oxygenase and so reduce the synthesis of prostaglandins.

The result is a reduction in:

  • pain
  • vasodilatation
  • oedema

NSAIDS also:

  • inhibit leucocyte migration
  • reduce the formation of superoxide radicals
