Aorto-iliac obstruction is most commonly treated by the insertion of a "trouser graft." The graft, usually of Dacron, connects the infrarenal aorta to each of the common femoral arteries just below the femoral ligament. The diseased vessels are left in situ.
Trouser grafts may also be used to repair abdominal aortic aneurysms when there is aneurysmal involvement of the iliac and/or femoral arteries.
