increase dose interval in renal impairment. In severe impairment the dose itself should also be reduced

Contra-indications:
pregnancy - possible toxicity to eighth-nerve development of the fetus
myasthenia Gravis - aminoglycosides may impair neuromuscular transmission and indeed large doses given during surgery may be responsible for a transient myasthenic syndrome
