Despite the popularly held belief that prognosis is grim, most people - especially children - treated have a good outcome. Prognosis is improved by early treatment, although adequate treatment of late disease should also be good. Previous poor prognostication has probably been based on misdiagnosis of Lyme disease in the first instance.
