Cholinergic crisis

In patients with myasthenia gravis, a cholinergic crisis occurs when there is too much cholinesterase inhibition.

Clinical features include:

  • muscle fasciculation
  • sweating
  • excessive salivation
  • constricted pupils

Anticholinesterases are withdrawn and atropine given.
