The lateral basal segmental bronchus of the right inferior lobe bronchus ramifies to form the bronchial tree of the lateral basal bronchopulmonary segment of the inferior lobe. This segment is supplied uniquely by the lateral basal segmental bronchus; it forms a discrete functional unit.
