Electric shock

Electrocution is death caused by an electric shock.

Between 2020 and 2021, there were 5003 accident and emergency department attendances due to electric shock in the NHS. (1)

Types of electrical injury are; (2)

Low voltage - less than 1000 volts and usually occur in the home.

High voltage - greater than 1000 volts and typically occur at work.
