Internal bleeding

Internal bleeding may be evident in a shocked patient failing to respond to aggressive fluid replacement. Internal bleeding may occur in the limbs and in the head, but of greater importance is bleeding into body cavities, i.e.:

  • thorax
  • peritoneum
  • pelvis
