Beneath skin and superficial fascia, the anterior wall of the inguinal canal is formed from the fibres of the external oblique aponeurosis running inferomedially. The anterior wall is reinforced in its lateral third by the fibres of internal oblique.
Medially, the fibres of the external oblique aponeurosis diverge to form the superficial inguinal ring.
