It is necessary to discriminate a solitary chondroma from a benign cyst as there is no calcification in a benign cyst. If the patient is over 30 then a chondrosarcoma must be excluded. Note that chondrosarcomas are more frequently seen in long bones.
The lesions can be excised or curetted and replaced with bone grafts.
